Established in 1974, IMA has been connecting management assistants worldwide for the last 50 years. With a strong international presence, IMA connects over 1,300 members across more than 20 countries, cultivating a diverse and dynamic community of professionals. IMA South Africa NPC, established in 2018 with just 11 members, has grown to proudly represent a thriving network of 70 members across South Africa and the African continent. IMA South Africa NPC is registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) in South Africa (2017/585475/08). The Association is a non-political, self-development organization and refrains from engaging in political or trade-union activities. IMA Global Governance Our members play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the Association through active participation in the Annual General Meeting, held together with the IMA International Annual Conference. The IMA Council serves as the consultative and policy-making body, guiding the Association's strategic vision. The Executive Committee acts as the executive arm, implementing decisions and managing day-to-day operations. Elected National Committees oversee the daily administration and operations of the National Groups (in each country), ensuring alignment of initiatives and activities with our mission and values. Sonia Vanular Sonia Vanular, the founder of the European Association of Professional Secretaries (EAPS, now IMA - International Management Assistants), was a pioneer in her field.
